Expanding NC State’s open access (OA) offerings in the field of physics, the NC State University Libraries has reached an unlimited OA publishing 3-year agreement with IOP Publishing (IOPP) beginning in January 2023. The read-and-publish agreement will enable NC State researchers to publish unlimited research articles in all IOPP journals and almost all of IOPP’s partner journals at no cost to their corresponding authors.

All of the Libraries’ open access agreements are listed on the Libraries site here.

With a portfolio including over 90 journals, IOPP focuses on physics, materials science, biosciences, astronomy and astrophysics, environmental sciences, mathematics and education. IOP Publishing also publishes on behalf of other scientific organizations and represents their needs and those of their members.

“Through this agreement, the Libraries will continue to provide access to all IOPP journals while also covering the fees needed to publish open access,” says Hilary Davis, Head of Collections & Research Strategy at the Libraries. “Therefore, our researchers can publish their articles as open access without having to pay the open access fees, increasing discoverability and readership of NC State scholarship.”
